If you’re fortunate, you may encounter God
\n<\/span><\/span>beside a lake or on top of a high mountain \u2013
\n<\/span><\/span>a sort of holiday romance with the Almighty<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

but for most of us, any drawing closer
\n<\/span><\/span>to the One we worship, is most likely
\n<\/span><\/span>to occur in the thick of humdrum life.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

God does not ‘look down’ on earth, but is
\n<\/span><\/span>involved in the nitty gritty of the city street,
\n<\/span><\/span>our weekday work as much as Sunday leisure.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Come, Holy One, continue to dance with us
\n<\/span><\/span>to the music of wind sighing through the trees,
\n<\/span><\/span>the song of birds, waves crashing on the shore;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

but help us also to appreciate the beauty found
\n<\/span><\/span>near home, the counterpoint of grinding gears,
\n<\/span><\/span>percussion of banging doors and wail of sirens.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Christ’s Cross is imprinted on the messiness
\n<\/span><\/span>of life, criss-crossing intersections snarled
\n<\/span><\/span>with traffic and laced with diesel fumes.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Pain, betrayal, love and joy all happen here.
\n<\/span><\/span>It’s where Christ is crucified today, and where
\n<\/span><\/span>we’re most likely to experience Resurrection.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
