The tree looks blighted and malformed
but its roots delve deep into the earth’s
foundations; sap rises full of life and
promise, branches reach up to embrace
the sky and leaves give food and shelter.
It is not dead, but as with crucifixion
followed by the hope of resurrection,
only if we are prepared to encounter
the depths and degradation, will we
recognise the miracle of life restored.
