From Darkness to Light
Poems from an exhibition
The Methodist Modern Art Collection is one of the most important collections of modern Christian art in the world. The collection is regularly lent to be displayed in cathedrals, churches and art galleries so that as many people as possible can experience the art.
Twenty-five works from the collection were selected for an exhibition in St Mary's Church, Guildford during Lent 2026. From Darkness to Light pairs each of those paintings with a poem specially written by Alwyn Marriage. Full colour illustrations.
By way of a taster, there are also a dozen longer reflections on some of the paintings in the exhibition which can be reached through the Art UK website.
From Darkness to Light will be published by Oversteps Books on behalf of St Mary's Church, Guildford, in February/March 2026.
