News

It was lovely to read at the Wenlock Poetry Festival in April 2012, with other poets represented in the anthology, Shropshire Butterflies.

I was part of a super reading at the Troubadour in London in February by a group of Oversteps poets

I joined other poets represented in the anthology, No Space but their Own, at the Festival of Birds at Slimbridge Wildfowl Trust in February 2012

My poem The Clue lies in the Lady's Toe won second prize in the Bedford Open Poetry Competition, 2011.

Because 'O' was awarded a distinction in the Mere Poetry Competition, I read at the Mere Festival's Prizewinners' event.

'Cherry Orchard', which I wrote in response to the challenge on the Guardian Poetry Workshop, was chosen by Jo Bell for inclusion on the Guardian website.

I read at the wonderful Poetry on the Lake Festival on Lake Orta in Italy again in September.

I was a judge for the poetry section of the London Festival Fringe Awards. Michael Longley was awarded the prize, and the award ceremony was held at the London Waldorf Hilton in July.

Anne Born, the founder of Oversteps Books, and a dear friend, died in July. Her obituary was in The Guardian on 15th August.

We had an extremely successful and varied Oversteps Day at Ways with Words in Dartington in July.

'When my eyes shrank the fat man' was published in Orbis, May 2011

My poem,'fairshare' won second prize in a competition organised by Farmers' Weekly and the Royal Agricultural College on the theme of 'celebrating farming and the countryside'

In April I had the privilege of collaborating with a choreographer and dancers from the Ballet Rambert in a residency at The Space in Dartington. We worked together improvising and creating dance and poetry, then performed the result with musicians and an artist to a full house in the week after Easter.

My poem about Altzheimers, 'Losing it', was published in The Interpreter's House, February 2011

A poem called 'Ubuntu Love Song', which I entered for the Mirehouse Poetry Competition, was placed in the category of 'Highly Commended'.
